How does it work?

  • 🚨 Emergency Call: A 999 call is made to request an ambulance for a medical emergency.

  • 🖥️ Call Assessment: The Ambulance Service Control Room assesses the call and identifies it as suitable for a CFR response (e.g., cardiac arrest, breathing difficulties, unconscious patient).

  • 📲 CFR Alerted: The nearest available CFR receives a dispatch notification via an app or pager with the location and incident details.

  • 🚗 Rapid Response: The CFR travels directly to the scene, often arriving before an ambulance due to their local proximity.

  • ❤️ Immediate Care: The CFR provides basic life support, uses defibrillators, controls bleeding, or gives reassurance and updates to the patient and family.

  • 🚑 Ambulance Arrives: Paramedics take over upon arrival; the CFR assists and provides a handover of observations and actions taken.

  • 📋 Debrief & Reset: After the incident, the CFR restocks equipment, completes necessary reports, and becomes available for the next call.
